Official process

Add or claim the free profile

  1. Search Google or Google Maps for the exact business name and city to check whether a profile already exists.
  2. If none exists, open Google’s official setup and add the business. If an unverified listing exists, choose Claim this business or Own this business?
  3. Enter accurate business details. Service-area businesses can provide an address for verification while hiding it from customers when they do not serve customers there.
  4. Choose one of the verification options Google offers and complete the on-screen steps.

Read Google’s official add-or-claim instructions. Google states that adding or claiming a Business Profile is available at no charge.

Use the name shown on signage, invoices, or customer materials—without extra keywords.
Enter the real staffed location. Do not use an unstaffed virtual office.
Google permits up to 20 service areas. Keep the overall area reasonably close to the business base.
